Tolman Motorsport has just started a complete restoration of a 1957 Lotus Elite, one of only 1030 produced by the Norfolk car manufacturer in five years. This will be a meticulous and sympathetic overhaul down to the smallest nut and bolt.
The Lotus Elite, or Lotus Type 14, was an ultra-light two-seater coupe that made its debut at the 1957 London Earls Court Motorshow and was developed by selected racing customers over 14 years. It had a highly innovative fiberglass monocoque construction with a steel subframe for the front suspension and engine mounting. In racing trim, the Elite won its class at the 24hr Le Mans six times.
Further information on the rebuild will follow shortly and check out our facebook page for photos of the rebuild as it progresses.
